6th - 9th Grade
Meets on campus from 9am to 12pm, June 23 - 26
Led by Brian DeJong, a CMU engineering faculty member
Learn about electric motors, sensors, and lights by building your own electric cars, burglar alarms, auto flashlights, and air cannons. You'll build fun contraptions out of everyday items and in doing so learn about DC, servo, and stepper motors, LEDs and sensors as well as voltage, current, and basic circuitry.
Outcomes:
- use voltage, current, and basic circuitry
- identify how smart devices sense and act
- differentiate between various sensors and motors
- integrate sensors and actuators into a mechatronic system
Please keep in mind that student interest in the topic enhances not only their experience, but also that of their fellow campers.
If financial barriers would limit your participation, please email us at cese@cmich.edu to talk about how we can make our programs accessible for you.
