Share Your Story: An Art and Writing Workshop
4th - 6th Grade
Meets on campus from 9am to 12pm, July 29 - August 1
Led by Marissa Tawney Thaler, a former elementary art instructor and practicing artist, author, illustrator
Get ready for an exciting four-day workshop, designed to ignite creativity and critical thinking! Students will brainstorm character and plot ideas, explore mediums for illustration, and learn new skills like storyboarding and bookbinding, all while creating a hands-on final picture book. Perfect for kids who love to collaborate or would rather work solo, this flexible workshop is designed to accommodate different skill levels and work paces. Everyone has a story to tell, and, in this workshop, we’ll help bring yours to life! Friends and family are invited to celebrate the accomplishments during the book “Launch Party” on the last day of camp. Please keep in mind that student interest in the topic enhances not only their experience, but also that of their fellow campers.
If financial barriers would limit your participation, please email us at cese@cmich.edu to talk about how we can make our programs accessible for you.
