Winter Tales

Where do the bugs go in winter?

What does it mean when I see a cardinal on the first frost?

How do deer stay warm?

Does everything die in the pond when it's cold?

There are questions and stories we have about science during the winter. Tales about the frost and invertebrates that we've heard from family and books. Come explore nature with us as we tackle these questions and learn how to get students thinking about nature in winter. We will include picture book suggestions, give strategies for getting students outside in all weather, and address some of our most asked questions during Winter Nature Field Trips

Participants will get a nature log book and practice several different activities that can be done with students. Lunch and all materials are provided.

This is an OUTDOOR event. We will have spaces available for restrooms and to warm up, but you will want to dress for the weather.

Workshop led by GIRESD Forest Hill Nature Area Directer Erika Kemler, supported by Center staff.
